Safeguarding is the quiet architecture behind every RIHLA lesson. Below is exactly how we protect the children in our care, and how you can hold us to it.
Every scholar is interviewed, referenced by their institution, and background-checked to the standard of the country they teach in.
A parent or guardian is always able to be present or on-screen. Under-11 lessons default to parent-visible mode.
You can request any lesson to be recorded, at no extra cost, kept private to your family, and deleted on request.
Teachers and parents communicate in-app — not on personal phone numbers. Voice notes, files, and messages are logged.
Content is chosen by age and emotional readiness. Sensitive topics are only introduced with the parent's consent.
Every family has a direct WhatsApp and email line to our named safeguarding lead — replies within 24 hours, always.
Who is your named safeguarding lead?
Every family receives the name, photo, and direct contact of our safeguarding lead during onboarding. They are a qualified professional with dedicated hours each week.
How are teachers vetted?
Two written references from their institution, a background check appropriate to their jurisdiction, an interview with our academic lead, and a probationary teaching period observed by a senior scholar.
Can I see the recording policy in writing?
Yes. Our full recording, retention, and deletion policy is shared during onboarding and available on request at any time.
What if my child feels uncomfortable in a lesson?
Message us — or your safeguarding lead directly — and we will pause the pairing immediately, listen carefully, and work with you on next steps. No fees are charged during that pause.

If anything ever feels off — even a small worry — please write to our safeguarding lead. We will listen, and we will act.
