Curriculum

A quiet, deliberate
four-stage journey.

RIHLA’s curriculum is structured, but never rigid. Each stage builds on the last — with monthly reflection, milestone certificates, and a mentor who adapts the pace to your child.

Stage One
6 — 12 months

Foundations

Arabic letters, short surahs, adhkar of morning and evening, and the love of Allah. Children finish this stage confident with the mushaf and prayer.

Milestones your family will keep
  • Full Arabic alphabet with confidence
  • Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and the last 15 surahs
  • The five daily prayers, step by step
Stage Two
12 — 18 months

Fluency

Fluent recitation of the mushaf, tajwīd foundations (nūn sākinah, madd, qalqalah), and the meaning of the most-recited surahs.

Milestones your family will keep
  • Fluent recitation across the mushaf
  • Core tajwīd rules understood, not just recited
  • Meaning of Juzʾ ʿAmma
Stage Three
18 — 24 months

Understanding

Foundations of Arabic, tafsīr of chosen surahs, seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, and the beginnings of fiqh — worship a child can actually explain.

Milestones your family will keep
  • Arabic grammar foundations
  • Tafsīr of Sūrat al-Kahf and Yāsīn
  • Seerah timeline through Madinan years
Stage Four
Lifelong

Living Islam

Character (akhlāq), personal reflection, and the confidence to carry Islam through school, university, and adult life in the West.

Milestones your family will keep
  • Personal daily worship rhythm
  • Confidence answering questions of faith
  • A mentor for the long road ahead
How lessons unfold

A weekly rhythm, not a schedule.

Every child has a mentor, a plan, and a page in the parent dashboard. Lessons settle into a rhythm around your family’s life — not the other way around.

  • One-to-one live lessons in a calm classroom
  • Weekly mentor notes to parents — not automated summaries
  • Homework worth doing, never busywork
  • Monthly character reflection with your mentor
  • Beautiful printable certificates at each milestone
